10% SDS solution is premixed 10% w/v sodium dodecyl sulfate in ddH2O. SDS is an anionic surfactant used in polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE). It can disrupt hydrogen bonds between molecules and denature secondary and tertiary protein structure. Moreover, it is also used in DNA extraction for damage cell membranes. |
